Fondée en 1991, Nan Ya LCD fait partie du groupe Nan Ya Plastics Corporation, crée en 1958. Ce groupe fait lui-même partie de Formosa Plastics Group, la plus grande entreprise privée à Taiwan détenant un chiffre d’affaires de plus US $ 10 milliards. Formosa Plastics Group dispose d'un effectif de 72 000 personnes qui inclut une importante équipe en support technique.

NanYa se positionne sur un marché industriel et propose des écrans couleur (CSTN et TFT) haut de gamme.
